Fraud is when someone intentionally lies to a health insurance company, Medicaid or Medicare to get money. Waste is when someone over uses health services carelessly, and abuse happens when best medical practices aren’t followed that lead to expenses and treatments that aren’t needed. Let’s work together and ensure these funds are meeting genuine health needs.
The CENLA Area Agency on Aging develops and oversees a network of community-based services for seniors and their caregivers to enable seniors to continue to live in their communities for as long as possible. We contract Older Americans Act resources to local agencies to provide access to a variety of services to solve problems that seniors may be having.
These programs are put in place to help low income seniors pay for nutritious food.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has a variety of programs to assist seniors with housing needs. These programs included assistance to: be able to stay in your own home, find an apartment, housing voucher assistance, public housing and other affordable rentals, find housing with services (assisted living, retirement communities,) and protect yourself from fraud.
These programs are benefits put into place by state Medicaid agencies and help with expenses of Medicare who have limited income and resources. These programs help those qualified to afford Medicare. There are four different Medicare Savings programs, each with different income and resource eligibility limits. We are committed to getting you qualified with one of these programs.

Understanding Medicare in Louisiana can be overwhelming and oftentimes complicated, especially when plans continue to change and grow. In fact, over 50% of seniors enrolling in Medicare nationally find choosing the right plan confusing, and less than half of beneficiaries say they review or compare Medicare coverage options annually.
A 2020 U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics report projected a 2.8% workforce participation increase for people over 75 by 2023. Seniors are continuing or returning to work for various reasons, including personal finances, enjoyment of what they do, and a desire to keep active. For this reason, we created a guide that provides information for seniors looking to re-enter the workforce. The resource includes instructions on how to use the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), resources for older veterans, and state-specific job boards and employment resources.
When your loved one moves to an assisted living facility (ALF), it’s natural to worry about how they’re doing. You want them to make new friends, enjoy a variety of activities and get the help they need to stay healthy and active. Unfortunately, elder abuse is a serious problem in the United States, and abuse occurs in ALFs just as it does in other care settings.
